Our gardens also serve as a home to other creatures--in the winter, they rely on the gardens for an extra supply of food.
A bird feeder is a great way to provide food. Good sized feeders that are consistently full with nutritious winter seed are key. Since it is winter, you can offer fattier seed to birds as well.
Adding color to your garden is another way to keep up with winter gardening. Heucheras, autumn fern, sedums, and pansies all withstand a moderate winter. Add additional color with a vibrant piece of outdoor furniture, colorful container, or place a few rocks around the surface.
